Amazon Music (Formerly known as AmazonMP3)  offers millions of songs in high-quality MP3 format. In addition to your music being available on Amazon.com, your fans can access your music using Amazon’s Cloud Player for Kindle Fire HD/HDX, iOS, Android, PC, Mac, or any other phone or tablet running the Google Android operating system. Amazon’s Cloud Drive and the Amazon Cloud Player will make it easy for your fans to purchase and listen to your music everywhere they go. 

On June 12, 2014, Amazon launched Prime Music. Amazon Prime customers can now listen ad-free to over a million songs and hundreds of expert-programmed playlists. On mobile devices, customers can download their favorite songs and Prime Playlists for offline playback.
Content only becomes available for streaming to Amazon Prime customers 90 days after the release date.

The service is available in  Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, and the USA.

It takes 3-7 business days for content to go live in Amazon Music.
Important Note: Amazon Music makes preview clips of your song(s) available BEFORE your digital sales start date, as soon as 3-7 business days after distribution. The release won't be available to buy until your release date, but if you're uncomfortable with having preview clips available before that date, please do not choose Amazon Music as a store for distribution until after or right before your release date.

You may sell your music on Amazon Music according to wholesale pricing tiers. Generally, the tiers are as follows:

• Front Line: This tier pays you the highest wholesale price (best for new releases)
• Mid Line: This tier offers a slightly lower payout than Front Line (suggested for new releases and recent releases)
• Catalog: This tier is slightly lower than both Front Line and Mid Line (suggested for releases older than 18 months)
• Special: This is the lowest wholesale pricing tier offered (suggested option for promotions, older and/or slow-selling catalogs)

Important Note: Please note that pricing your music is always within your discretion once you select the Amazon Music store and that our guidelines are merely suggestions. But please be aware an album can only be submitted at one of the above pricing tiers, and all songs on that album will be sold at that corresponding level. This means that individual tracks will be pro-rated according to your selected album price.

Important Note:  Amazon Music sets customer prices independently (the retail price). Even though you may choose which pricing tier you'd like for your album (the wholesale price), the corresponding customer price is set by Amazon MP3 and can change at any time.

Paid Downloads:  Payouts are based on territory-specific rates, so for songs downloaded individually in a store, you will be paid the wholesale price of the channel's retail price. Not including transaction surcharges added (e.g., Paypal), less VAT, and fees due to exploitation of the content payable to Collecting Societies.  

Paid Streams: When a Amazon Prime customer streams your music, you get paid a proportionate share of Amazon's subscription revenue per month calculated on terms set out in our agreement with the store (this usually excludes streams during a subscriber's free trial). Payments will fluctuate each month, depending on the amount of subscription revenue generated and how often your music was streamed. 

iTunes is a media player, media library, online radio broadcaster, and mobile device management application developed by Apple Inc. It is used to play, download, and organize digital audio and video on personal computers running the OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems. The iTunes Store is available on the iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad.

Through the iTunes Store, users can purchase and download music, music videos, television shows, audiobooks, podcasts, movies, movie rentals in some countries, and ringtones, available on the iPhone and iPod Touch (fourth generation onward).

Apple Music is Apple´s premium subscription service, accessible via the iTunes interface. After an initial three months free trial, which users will only be able to access after providing credit card information, Apple Music will be only available to paying subscribers. The service strongly focuses on editorial and artist features, including “Artist Connect,” allowing approved artists to post free content directly on the service and interact with fans.

YouTube Music allows watching and listening to music videos. YouTube Music Key pairs your song with your album cover art (YouTube calls this an “Art Track”), and you earn money when those Art Tracks are streamed on YouTube.  With a reach of one billion unique users monthly, YouTube Music Key gives you the power to connect with more fans worldwide.

The service offers ad-free, audio-only playback for background listening, video viewing, and offline listening.  It will also include a subscription to Google Play Music, with 30+ million songs, expert-curated playlists, and the ability to watch many YouTube official music videos right from the app in the coming days.

When you deliver an album to this channel, it will be made available and monetized in the YouTube Music Key service. Even if you have your music videos already on YouTube, adding YouTube Music Key gives you broader distribution and access to an additional income stream.

Service Type

YouTube Music makes your music available via the creation of Art Tracks. An Art Track is an automatically generated YouTube version of a sound recording. An Art Track consists of the sound recording, the album art, and metadata about the recording, such as its title and artist name.

Art Tracks aims to provide a single official, label-sanctioned YouTube version of every sound recording. Currently, official music videos are available for recordings only when a label or artist invests (non-trivial) time and resources into producing one. Art Tracks automate the creation of versions for recordings that don’t have a produced music video.

Tidal (stylized as TIDAL, also known as TIDALHiFi) is a subscription-based music streaming service that combines lossless audio (1411 kbit/s) and high-definition music videos with curated editorial. The service has over 25 million tracks and 75,000 music videos. With approximately 75% of members' subscription fees being given to record labels for individual artist and songwriter distribution, Tidal claims to pay the highest royalties to music artists and songwriters within the music streaming market.

SoundExchange is a non-profit organization established by the Copyright Royalty Board. SoundExchange collects and distributes digital performance royalties on behalf of recording artists, master rights owners (like record labels), and independent artists who own their masters. SoundExchange collects these royalties from three primary sources:

• Non-interactive webcasters: SoundExchange collects royalties from non-interactive webcasters; service providers do not allow users to pick and choose what they listen to. Pandora is an example of a non-interactive webcaster. In contrast, MySpace or YouTube are interactive (or on-demand) streaming services because a user picks precisely what he/she wants to listen to.
• Satellite and Digital Cable TV: When your song is played through digital cable and satellite television music-related services like Music Choice (Digital Cable) and Muzak (Dish), SoundExchange collects and distributes the royalties.
• Satellite Radio Services: In the world of terrestrial radio, only the songwriter and publisher receive performance royalties, not necessarily the performing artist (unless they own or control their underlying composition(s)). However, in satellite radio, like SiriusXM, SoundExchange monitors their plays and allocates the money to recording artists accordingly. To collect potential royalties owed to you on these types of services, you will need to register with Sound Exchange directly, which is free.
• Please note that SoundExchange differs from performing rights organizations such as BMI, ASCAP, and SESAC (the “PROs”). The PROs collect royalties when music is publicly performed on behalf of songwriters and publishers, not the performance artists per se (although, as mentioned above, they may be the same person). Spotify is a commercial music streaming service providing digital rights management-restricted content. Music can be browsed or searched by artist, album, genre, playlist, or record label. Free subscriptions can listen to music, interrupted by targeted advertisements. Paid "Premium" subscriptions remove advertisements and allow users to download music to listen to offline.

Spotify Analytics is the free tool that gives labels and distributors the data they need from Spotify by providing streaming stats and understanding performance across your entire catalog.
